Mental Health Worker

You'll support patients receiving care in an acute inpatient psychiatric environment where observation, therapeutic engagement, and crisis response are part of daily practice. Working alongside nurses, therapists, and other behavioral health professionals, you'll help maintain a structured, safe setting that supports treatment, recovery, and positive patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support patients with daily living activities, personal care needs, and supportive patient interactions while promoting dignity, independence, and recovery-focused care.
  • Monitor, observe, and document patient behavior, communicating changes in condition to support safety, treatment goals, and continuity of care.
  • Assist with admissions, patient orientation, and care plan implementation while helping maintain a structured treatment environment.
  • Facilitate group-based activities that encourage engagement, coping skills development, and participation in treatment.
  • Respond appropriately to behavioral health crises while supporting patient observation, supervision, and safe participation in appointments, approved activities, and other care-related events.
  • Collaborate closely with nurses, therapists, and other interdisciplinary team members to support comprehensive behavioral health care.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and current BLS certification.
  • Prior customer service experience in healthcare, hospitality, human services, or another high-interaction environment.
  • Ability to work in an active patient care environment that may include prolonged standing, walking, behavioral health crisis response, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Card holder required.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in behavioral health, psychiatric, acute inpatient mental health, or related healthcare settings.
  • Experience providing direct patient care, patient observation, supervision, or therapeutic support in a healthcare or human services environment.
